Bree hasn't improved. I started worrying more last night that Bree's cough & runny nose seemed a little worse than it had been. She has refused baby food since last Friday, and has only been nursing & taking a little cereal right before bed. Then this morning, she wouldn't nurse. Since she is only nursing, we are back to 5am feedings, but this morning she just was to congested to even nurse a little. I waited in out until the Doctors office opened, and we got her in by 9am. We went over all the symptoms, listened to her lungs, looked at her ears.... etc. Then she started watching her chest, and decided to do a test for RSV. As soon as I even heard that she wanted to test for that, my heart just dropped. Then the test came back positive. Bree has RSV.
I'm still pretty scared, but the doctor feels as though Bree has a pretty mild case of it. Thank God, but I have just read & heard some petty scary stories about RSV that end up in the hospital. We did a breathing treatment in the Doctors office, and we are now on drops at home to help with breathing. The Doc thinks that will be enough, along with all the other homeopathic treatments & Tylenol. Unfortunately, RSV is a viral infection in the lungs ( http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/lung/rsv.html ), and therefore, there isn't much you can do for it besides just wait it out. We just have to make sure she stays hydrated! The Doc also said it typically lasts about 2 weeks, and that we probably have another week to go. Poor baby! I just feel sooo bad for her!
I am already such a germ-a-phobe, but I have a feeling that is going to kick up even more now. Apparently, the RSV virus is highly contagious and very hard to kill!
I ask you all to please pray for our baby Bree! Pray that her little body is through the worst of it, and that more extensive treatments will not be needed!!
